A new paradigm
Emotional Brain Training, (EBT) is a method aimed at rewiring the emotional brain. It’s not you, it’s your wiring
Much of our stress is due to our wiring. Our past episodes of responding to the demands of the day are recorded in the brain as a wire or string of nerve cells. Many of our stress circuits were encoded in the emotional brain long ago and become reinforced with time. If a similar situation arises, the old circuit becomes aroused. We respond unconsciously emotionally, cognitively and behaviorally to the past. Under stress, we want to stop the pain but unconsciously we are wired to believe that overeating, depression, anxiety, relationship strife give respite. Anxiety blocks joy and confusion ensues. Part of chronic stress is to identify with our negative moods, thoughts and behaviors, but it is important to know that it is not you, it’s your wiring.
